Justice League: Throne of Atlantis is a direct-to-video animated superhero film which is part of the DC Universe Animated Original Movies. The film is based on the Throne of Atlantis story arc written by Geoff Johns and serves as a sequel to 2014's Justice League: War.

Jason O'Mara, Christopher Gorham, Sean Astin, Shemar Moore, Steven Blum, George Newbern and Melique Berger reprise their respective roles from Justice League: War, while Nathan Fillion reprises his role as Green Lantern / Hal Jordan from Green Lantern: Emerald Knights, Justice League: Doom and Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox.

Justice League: Throne of Atlantis (2015) Story & Synopsis:

In the Atlantic, the U.S.S. California submarine picks up incoming human-like threats approaching the sub by sonar. The sub is attacked, leaving the entire crew dead by the invading hostiles. At S.T.A.R. Labs' Justice League headquarters, Cyborg is given news by Colonel Steve Trevor over the sunken sub. Cyborg decides to check it himself, deciding against Trevor's idea of calling the other superheroes, as he puts it "there is no Justice League". At Mercy Reef, Arthur Curry, drunk over the death of his father, picks a fight with a group of tough guys over them wanting to eat the lobster Arthur was talking to. He defeats them, but is watched by Mera and Dr. Shin. At the sunken sub, Cyborg discovers hand prints on the hull, and that the missiles are missing. He is then attacked by the same hostiles that attacked the sub, and suffers damage through his escape. Back at their HQ, Cyborg gets help from Flash and Shazam to get Superman, Wonder Woman, and Green Lantern, leaving Batman the last one remaining. Green Lantern decides to head to Gotham City to get Batman, who is currently chasing henchmen of the Scarecrow. Green Lantern captures them for Batman, but Batman is angry as he needed them to head to where Scarecrow was. With the entire team together, they check the raised sub and Cyborg's assault; they realize the enemy isn't related to Darkseid, but warriors from Earth's origin. Thanks to Diana's knowledge, she reveals these warriors are from Atlantis; with the theory of war related to the missing missiles, and using Shazam's suggestion, Superman and Batman decide to meet Atlantis-expert Dr. Shin, while the others are tasked in finding Atlantis.

At Atlantis, Orm and Black Manta meet with Orm's mother, Queen Atlanna. They argue over declaring war on the surface world because of the damage during the events of Darkseid's attack, and Atlanna asks Mera to bring Arthur, her other son, to Atlantis. Black Manta uses a fake submarine to attack Atlantis using the same stolen missiles, framing the surface for the attack. Arthur answers the door to Dr. Shin, who tries to tell him that his father contacted him before his death to help Arthur; moments later, he is killed by Atlantean soldiers. Arthur is overwhelmed by the attack, until he is saved by Mera. Batman and Superman enter Dr. Shin's home, discovering that his work is destroyed. Superman recreates a photograph of Arthur Curry and a letter from his father revealing that his son is half-Atlantean; Batman decides they must find him. The attack on Atlantis leads the citizens to demand for war, but Queen Atlanna decides that they might need to reveal themselves after centuries of being hidden, and decides to contact the Justice League. Arthur wakes up underwater next to Mera, who reveals the situation: Atlanna met Arthur's father and gave birth to him, but because of royalty, she couldn't be with him nor Arthur so had to leave to be with her king and Orm. Now, Atlanna believes Arthur can help Atlantis be the bridge between the two worlds; Mera shows him ancient ruins, where she dresses him with his royal garb. Arthur can't take the news and heads to surface, with Mera following him; soon, they are attacked by the Trench. The battle is tough, with Arthur bleeding for the first time in his life, until the Justice League arrive in time to defeat the Trench. Orm hears from Manta that the Trench failed to kill Arthur; Orm and Queen Atlanna argue because Orm wants to start a war, as per his late father's wishes, and reveals his knowledge of Arthur Curry. Queen Atlanna reveals to him that she knows he attacked Atlantis, and with this news, Manta and Orm murder Atlanna and take over.

Arthur, Mera, Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, and Cyborg arrive at Atlantis and learn of Atlanna's death, and are defeated by Orm (who has now become the super villain "Ocean Master") . The group is sent to be consumed by the monstrous Dark Trench, while Ocean Master leads Atlantis' army to the surface. Arthur breaks from his bonds and with Superman's help, they save the rest and defeat the monster. In Metropolis, a tidal wave, Ocean Master's army in disguise, reaches the shores and begins the attack. The military fight back but are powerless until the League arrive. During the fight, Superman saves John Henry Irons, and Wonder Woman saves Lois Lane and Jimmy Olsen. Arthur fights Black Manta, who reveals his plan to have manipulated Ocean Master and will soon get rid of him and take over; just as he explains this, he doesn't realize Arthur calling a great white shark to attack him defeating Black Manta. Mera fights Ocean Master, but is taken down; the League come in, but one by one, some (Wonder Woman,Green Lantern,Flash,and Shazam) are defeated, or (Superman and Cyborg) severely wounded. Arthur becomes the last to face Ocean Master, and has an upper hand during the fight until the end. Batman saves Cyborg from dying, and he reveals that he got video of Ocean Master confessing to killing his mother when they were captured. Cyborg broadcasts Ocean Master's confession all over Metropolis for Atlantis' soldiers to see; Arthur takes the upper hand and defeats Ocean Master, then he leads his soldiers to bridge Atlantis and the surface together in peace instead of war; with that, the attack ends.

Later in Atlantis, Arthur is crowned as king, with the Justice League among the audience celebrating. Batman suggests that with new threats appearing, they need to solidify the team, and Cyborg reveals plans for a watchtower. Arthur joins as Aquaman, and soon heads with now love interest Mera against the Trench outside Atlantis. In the post credits scene, Orm is jailed at Belle Reve Prison, and is approached by Lex Luthor who has a proposition for him to consider.

PK (Aamir Khan) is an alien who gets stranded on earth and is befriended by Bhairon Singh (Sanjay Dutt) who helps PK try to adjust to Earth customs. PK goes to Delhi where he and reporter Jagat Janani (Anushka Sharma) end up confronting a huckster, the godman Tapasvi Maharaj (Saurabh Shukla).

Marketing:

The first poster came out on 31 July 2014.A motion poster was also released on the same day on YouTube. The poster sparked a controversy as it featured Aamir Khan posing almost nude with only a transistor covering his private parts. The poster was criticized for allegedly promoting obscenity. A PIL was filed in the court by the All India Human Rights and Social Justice Front to ban the release of the film. The Supreme Court dismissed the plea and gave the movie a green signal.

There were also allegations on the poster being copied. It had similarities with the poster of a Portuguese musician named Quim Barreiros, which was released in 1973. The second poster of was launched on 20 August 2014 at an event in Mumbai. This poster was also released in the form of motion poster on YouTube. The new poster featured Aamir Khan wearing traditional Rajasthani attire, also sporting dark glasses and holding onto a brass tenor. The promotional strategy for the movie was revealed by the makers at the launch of the second poster.

The third motion poster introduced Sanjay Dutt as Bhairav Singh. The fourth motion poster Anushka Sharma along with Aamir Khan released on YouTube 16 oct 2014. The poster introduced Anushka Sharma as Jagat Janani Aamir Khan stated that PK will have a poster campaign in which a new poster will be introduced every two to three weeks. By the time the movie releases, 8 to 10 posters will be launched. The teaser released on 23 October.

But these are mere blips of inspiration in a film that's otherwise dully fixated with its characters only insofar as they regard Pearce's celebrity status. Phillippe never digs into Pearce as a person, or ponders the solitary nature of the actor's lifestyle, and the effect, which lasts right up until the inevitable and self-serving conclusion in which Pearce's career is resuscitated in the wake of all the media coverage surrounding his disappearance, is that he's kept at a distance from the audience. If everyone in Pearce's world is a starfucker, then he remains only as complex as what a tabloid would tell us of a celebrity's persona.

Gone Girl (2014) Story & Synopsis:

A graduate student, Ian Gray, meets an interesting woman, Sofi, at a Halloween party, and he photographs her eyes. They start to have sex in a washroom, but she abruptly leaves without providing her contact information. Gray is researching the evolution of human eyes with Karen and Kenny. Gray's goal is to discredit creationists by proving that eyes have evolved.

One day, Gray sees a number of elevens all at one time. He gets on bus number 11, but gets off when a guide-dog starts barking at him. He sees a billboard cosmetics ad featuring Sofi's unmistakable eyes, and uses it to track her down. Despite their different belief systems, Gray's and Sofi's relationship develops and they eventually plan to marry. On their would-be wedding day, Karen calls Gray, informing him of a species of worm that is blind, but has the DNA required to develop an eye. This is the breakthrough they have been searching for.

Sofi is upset, and suggests that humans are like the blind worm. Just because they cannot see light doesn't mean it doesn't exist. Just because humans can't see God doesn't mean that God doesn't exist. Gray argues with her and grows impatient with her views, telling her that she is a "child." Later that day, Sofi is killed in an elevator accident. Gray is distraught, and Karen takes over much of his research. One evening, she brings him a meal at his home. He breaks down, and she comforts him—leading to a more intimate situation.

Seven years later, Gray has written a book slamming the creationists and their belief that eyes haven't evolved. Karen is pregnant with their first child. When the child is born, the hospital takes an iris scan of the baby. When it is entered into the database, they appear to match someone else's eyes. This is tossed off as a glitch with the new system.

A few months later, a Dr. Simmons calls and suggests they test the baby for autism. The unusual test studies which seemingly random photos the baby is more drawn to. Gray and Karen determine that many of the photos are from Boise, Idaho. Gray travels there and finds that the person whose eyes matched their baby's had died two years earlier—just before their baby was conceived, suggesting that their son may be some sort of reincarnation of the deceased man.

Gray's former research partner, Kenny, is the creator of the iris database. He helps Gray and Karen run some iris photos of deceased people through the database to see if there are any recent matches. Sofi's eyes match those of a young girl in India.

Gray travels to India to find her. He meets a preacher in his hotel elevator, but snubs his friendly approach. He finds the facility that did the scan, but learns from Priya that the girl is an orphan and will be hard to find. To aid his search, he places an ad on a billboard with a picture of Sofi's eyes and the offer of a reward to the person if they call. He later finds a little girl staring at the billboard, and her irises match Sofi's. He takes the girl, Salomina, back to his hotel and contacts Karen over Skype. With her help, he conducts a simple test on Salomina, hoping that she will select the images associated with Sofi. Although she correctly picks some images specific to Sofi, the results are inconclusive, falling within the "random" range, and he admits to Karen that he feels foolish. But when he prepares to leave the hotel with Salomina, she panics and cries at the sight of the elevator, and Gray seems to accept the idea that she may be connected to Sofi in ways that cannot be proven through science.

A post-credits scene shows Dr. Simmons continuing her tests and scanning the irises of deceased famous figures such as Adolf Hitler and John F. Kennedy, Jr. for matches—with some success.

The day of his fifth wedding anniversary, Nick Dunne returns home to find that his wife Amy is missing. Her disappearance receives heavy press coverage, as Amy was the inspiration for her parents' popular Amazing Amy children's books. Suspicions arise that Nick murdered her, and his awkward behavior is interpreted by the media as characteristic of a sociopath.

Flashbacks reveal that Nick and Amy's marriage has disintegrated; both lost their jobs in the recession and moved from New York City to Missouri. Nick has become lazy, distant, and unfaithful. Detective Rhonda Boney uncovers evidence of financial troubles and domestic disputes, a report indicating that Amy wanted to purchase a gun, and poorly concealed evidence of a struggle. She also finds a medical report indicating that Amy is pregnant, of which Nick denies knowledge.

Through clues left for Nick by Amy, it is revealed that Amy planned to frame Nick for her murder by ingratiating herself into local life, faking her pregnancy, and fabricating a diary describing her fear of her husband. She has changed her appearance and is hiding in a distant campground, believing Nick will be convicted and executed for her murder.

Nick hires Tanner Bolt, a defense attorney who specializes in defending husbands accused of killing their wives, to prove his innocence. Nick meets Amy's ex-boyfriend Tommy O'Hara, who claims Amy framed him for rape. He also approaches another ex-boyfriend, the wealthy Desi Collings - against whom Amy previously filed a restraining order - but Desi refuses to reveal any details.

When Amy's money is stolen, she calls Desi and convinces him that she ran away from Nick, fearing for her life. He agrees to hide her in his lake house, which is equipped with surveillance cameras. Nick convinces his twin sister, Margo, of his innocence. After Nick's student and mistress reveals their affair at a press conference, Nick appears on a talk show to apologize for his failures as a husband in the hope of luring Amy, swearing he is not a murderer. His performance improves his public image and rekindles Amy's feelings for him. She uses the lake house's cameras to her advantage, making it appear as though Desi kidnapped and abused her. She seduces and kills Desi during sex, then returns home covered in blood, naming Desi as her captor and rapist, clearing Nick of suspicion.

Amy tells Nick the truth, saying that the man she watched pleading for her return was the man she wants him to become again. Nick shares this with Boney, Bolt and Margo, but has no way to prove Amy's guilt. Nick intends to leave Amy and expose her lies, but Amy reveals that she is pregnant, having used Nick's sperm stored at a fertility clinic. Nick doubts the child is his and says he will undertake a paternity test.

Nick reacts violently to Amy's insistence that they remain married, but feels responsible for the child. Despite Margo's objections, he reluctantly decides to stay with Amy. They announce on television that they are expecting a baby.

The Equalizer (2014) Story & Synopsis:

Robert McCall (Denzel Washington) is a retired CIA SAD agent who lives in Boston, Massachusetts and works at a Home Mart hardware store, where he befriends many of his co-workers and also tries to help a security guard trainee named Ralphie pass his qualification exam. McCall has promised his recently deceased wife that he'd leave his old life behind, but is compelled to act after his teenage friend Teri (Chloë Grace Moretz) whose real name is Alina, was seen being abused by her pimp. Alina's life was destroyed at the age of five or six when she was a victim of sex trafficking by the Russian Mafia and then became their sex slave and forced into prostitution.

Robert vows to save her after she is hospitalized after being brutally beaten by her pimp, Slavi (David Meunier). McCall enters a restaurant owned by the Russian mob and tries to convince Slavi to release Alina by paying him $9800, but Slavi refuses. McCall pretends to walk away, but turns back and takes out Slavi and his four men with their own weapons, removing the footage from all the security cameras.

In retaliation, Russian Mafia boss Vladimir Pushkin (Vladimir Kulich) sends his brutal enforcer Teddy (Marton Csokas) to Boston to find and eliminate the culprit. Meanwhile, Ralph withdraws his application for being a security guard at Home Mart to help out his mother at his family restaurant, which was set on fire by corrupt detectives on Pushkin's payroll as an act of extortion. McCall mauls the corrupt detectives and forces them to pay back all the money they have gotten through extortion, or their videotaped confession to arson will be made public. Ralph passes his test and becomes a security guard at Home Mart.

After talking with Teri's friend and fellow sex slave and reviewing surveillance video Teddy determines McCall is the culprit and is surprised by McCall's highly advanced skills. Teddy tries to capture him to use those skills instead of killing him. McCall, however, outsmarts his pursuers and escapes, while completing more acts of vigilantism. McCall visits fellow retired operatives Susan Plummer (Melissa Leo) and Brian Plummer (Bill Pullman) in Virginia, who help him acquire intelligence on Teddy's background and Pushkin's operations. It is revealed that Teddy is ex-Spetsnaz, and that his real name is Nikolai and Pushkin is a wealthy and politically connected oligarch. After McCall leaves, Susan remarks to Brian that McCall was not actually looking for help, but was actually asking for permission.

McCall then captures Frank Masters (David Harbour), a corrupt Boston police detective who has been aiding Teddy, by trapping him in his car and threatening to flood the vehicle with carbon monoxide. Frank relents and helps McCall expose a meat packing company that is a front for Pushkin's money laundering operations in Boston. McCall then obtains a USB drive from Frank's bank deposit box that contains all records of Puskhin's business transactions. Later, McCall confronts Teddy at dinner in the same restaurant he killed Slavi. McCall reveals that he has already killed another of Teddy's men inside the restaurant and pledges to bring down Pushkin's entire network that is attempting to influence US congressmen and judges. Teddy refuses McCall's offer. McCall then detonates a bomb at a major port destroying a massive cargo ship used by Pushkin to smuggle contraband. Unsatisfied with Teddy's lack of progress and furious over losing millions of dollars in profits, Pushkin orders Teddy to kill McCall or not return to Moscow.

In retaliation, Teddy and his men attack Home Mart and take Ralph and the workers of Home Mart hostage, threatening to kill them if McCall does not surrender. McCall enters the store and disables most of the lighting, tells Ralph to get the hostages to safety, and then kills Teddy's henchmen one by one using various Home Mart products. After a struggle between McCall and one of Teddy's mercenaries, Ralph comes back to help McCall, but is shot in the leg. McCall lures Teddy's last henchman towards the store's employee break room where the henchman is killed by a booby-trapped microwave turned on when Ralph makes it to the security room and turns on the electricity. McCall then uses a nailgun to kill Teddy before the mob enforcer has a chance to kill the cornered Ralph.

McCall then infiltrates Pushkin's estate in Moscow and slaughters Pushkin's guards, and tricks Pushkin into electrocuting himself. McCall returns to Boston, where he reunites with Alina, who has recovered from her wounds and thanks him for giving her a second chance. McCall is inspired to continue using his skills to help people in need and posts an online ad, identifying himself as "The Equalizer". He soon receives another plea for help and agrees to answer it.

Robert McCall (Denzel Washington) is a retired CIA SAD agent who lives in Boston, Massachusetts and works at a Home Mart hardware store, where he befriends many of his co-workers and also tries to help a security guard trainee named Ralphie pass his qualification exam. McCall has promised his recently deceased wife that he'd leave his old life behind, but is compelled to act after his teenage friend Teri (Chloë Grace Moretz) whose real name is Alina, was seen being abused by her pimp. Alina's life was destroyed at the age of five or six when she was a victim of sex trafficking by the Russian Mafia and then became their sex slave and forced into prostitution.

Robert vows to save her after she is hospitalized after being brutally beaten by her pimp, Slavi (David Meunier). McCall enters a restaurant owned by the Russian mob and tries to convince Slavi to release Alina by paying him $9800, but Slavi refuses. McCall pretends to walk away, but turns back and takes out Slavi and his four men with their own weapons, removing the footage from all the security cameras.

In retaliation, Russian Mafia boss Vladimir Pushkin (Vladimir Kulich) sends his brutal enforcer Teddy (Marton Csokas) to Boston to find and eliminate the culprit. Meanwhile, Ralph withdraws his application for being a security guard at Home Mart to help out his mother at his family restaurant, which was set on fire by corrupt detectives on Pushkin's payroll as an act of extortion. McCall mauls the corrupt detectives and forces them to pay back all the money they have gotten through extortion, or their videotaped confession to arson will be made public. After talking with Teri's friend and fellow sex slave and reviewing surveillance video Teddy determines McCall is the culprit and is surprised by McCall's highly advanced skills. Teddy tries to capture him to use those skills instead of killing him. McCall, however, outsmarts his pursuers and escapes, while completing more acts of vigilantism. McCall visits fellow retired operatives Susan Plummer (Melissa Leo) and Brian Plummer (Bill Pullman) in Virginia, who help him acquire intelligence on Teddy's background and Pushkin's operations. It is revealed that Teddy is ex-Spetsnaz, and that his real name is Nikolai and Pushkin is a wealthy and politically connected oligarch. After McCall leaves, Susan remarks to Brian that McCall was not actually looking for help, but was actually asking for permission.

McCall then captures Frank Masters (David Harbour), a corrupt Boston police detective who has been aiding Teddy, by trapping him in his car and threatening to flood the vehicle with carbon monoxide. Frank relents and helps McCall expose a meat packing company that is a front for Pushkin's money laundering operations in Boston. McCall then obtains a USB drive from Frank's bank deposit box that contains all records of Puskhin's business transactions. McCall reveals that he has already killed another of Teddy's men inside the restaurant and pledges to bring down Pushkin's entire network that is attempting to influence US congressmen and judges.
